Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has set a swift timeline for an extensive road development initiative in the province. During a special meeting on Wednesday, Sharif reviewed 471 road projects under the Road Rehabilitation Programme, directing officials to commence construction by September 15 and aiming to complete the projects by June 30.

The Chief Minister also focused on rural infrastructure, overseeing 75 road rehabilitation projects within the Rural Roads Rehabilitation Program, backed by a substantial budget of Rs 192 billion. These projects are scheduled to begin alongside the main road initiative.

Key projects highlighted include the construction and expansion of the Kartarpur Corridor, the GT Road to Quaid-e-Azam Interchange Ring Road, and a 93 km stretch from Multan to Vehari. Additionally, major repairs and new construction are planned for the Faisalabad-Chiniot-Sargodha Road and the 24 km Kumahan Interchange Road. Sharif emphasized completing five years’ worth of work within a single year.

The meeting was attended by high-ranking officials, including Senator Pervaiz Rashid and Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, with Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman and Principal Secretary to CM Sajid Zafar Dal also present.
