PM Shehbaz Sharif urges peaceful solution to Kashmir dispute

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stressed the importance of granting due rights to the people of Kashmir and Palestine to ensure peace and stability. In his address to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Youm-e-Istehsal, he stated that India and Israel must recognize these rights to avoid further destruction.

Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful solutions and clarified that the country’s nuclear power is solely for defense, not aggression. He criticized India’s actions in Jammu and Kashmir since August 5, 2019, highlighting the silencing of Kashmiri leadership and media, and the ongoing harassment and detentions.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s moral support for Kashmiris, paying tribute to their struggle and leaders. Sharif also condemned the violence in Palestine, noting the high toll on civilians, including children.

In a separate event, Sharif urged the restoration of Pakistan’s sports glory, particularly in hockey and cricket, during the foundation stone laying ceremony at Gaddafi Stadium. He emphasized merit and restructuring in the national cricket team, praising PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s efforts to upgrade cricket facilities.

Addressing a rally on Youm-e-Istehsal, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar condemned India’s revocation of Kashmir’s special status and urged international observers to assess the situation. He reiterated Pakistan’s support for Kashmir’s right to self-determination and the vision of Kashmir as part of Pakistan.

Minister for Kashmir Affairs Engineer Amir Muqam and APHC Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi also voiced their support, stressing the continued struggle for Kashmir’s freedom.
