KP government to create commission for fair investigation into Bannu rally violence

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government announced the formation of a commission on Saturday to investigate the recent firing incident in Bannu that led to multiple fatalities. Information Adviser Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif stated that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has called for a transparent investigation into the event, which resulted in the deaths of four people and injuries to several others during a protest rally.

The protest, organized by the trader community, was a response to the deteriorating law and order situation in the district. Demonstrators observed a complete shutter-down strike, demanding action against armed groups operating in the city and its surrounding areas. The rally turned tragic when gunfire erupted, causing a stampede that injured many participants.

Barrister Saif emphasized that the commission will conduct an impartial investigation and the findings will be made public. He urged people to avoid spreading rumors and unverified allegations before the commission releases its report. The adviser noted that security is typically heightened in sensitive areas like Bannu, which contributed to the incident. He also advised the public to remain vigilant amid the ongoing wave of terrorism.
