On Kashmir Exploitation Day, Pakistan’s civil and military leaders condemned India’s revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, marking five years since the controversial move. The Pakistani leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, criticized India for its alleged human rights violations and called for international intervention.

President Zardari highlighted that India’s August 5, 2019, actions breached UN Security Council resolutions and international law. He condemned the alteration of Kashmir’s demographic and political landscape, accusing India of attempting to erase the region’s special status.

Prime Minister Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s continued moral, diplomatic, and political support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. He warned that India’s actions have worsened the situation, stressing that peace in South Asia depends on resolving the Kashmir issue through dialogue.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar called for foreign observers to assess the situation in Kashmir, accusing India of violating UN resolutions. The military leadership echoed support for Kashmiris’ struggle and criticized India’s ongoing human rights abuses.

In a video message, President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, denounced India’s actions as state terrorism and a violation of international agreements. He called attention to the intensified repression since the revocation of Kashmir’s special status.
