Imran Khan and Bushra’s Physical Remand Extended by 11 Days in Toshakhana Case

Imran and Bushra's Physical Remand Extended by 11 Days in Toshakhana Case

Summary:

An accountability court in Rawalpindi has extended the physical remand of Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi by 11 days in connection with the Toshakhana case. The couple appeared in a makeshift courtroom at Adiala Jail following the expiration of their previous remand.

Deputy Director of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Mohsin Haroon, along with Prosecutor General Muzaffar Abbasi, requested a 14-day extension. However, the court granted only 11 days and scheduled the next hearing for August 19.

Earlier in August, NAB officials interrogated the couple at Adiala Jail regarding allegations of misuse of power to acquire gifts from Toshakhana. The extension comes after their acquittal in a separate case related to their marriage, which had previously resulted in a seven-year prison sentence and a fine.

The accountability court also heard a separate case involving a 190 million-pound reference against the couple but adjourned it until August 12 due to the absence of their legal representatives.
