Rain showers hit several areas, more expected soon

Summary:

  • Karachi wakes up to continued monsoon rains, with heavy showers in several areas.
  • The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts more rain throughout the day, with temperatures rising from 28°C to 33°C.
  • Weather experts warn of additional heavy showers in the city’s southern regions as rain clouds move in from the Arabian Sea.

Karachi residents started their day under cloudy skies as the city continues to experience the effects of the ongoing monsoon spell. Tuesday morning brought more rain to the metropolis, with heavy showers reported in various parts of the city, including North Karachi, Nagan Chowrangi, Power House, and UP More. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has indicated that the rain is likely to persist throughout the day, with the city’s temperature, currently at 28°C, expected to rise to 33°C.

Mild winds are blowing through the city at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour, according to the Met Office. Weather expert Jawad Memon explained that the light rain observed last night and early this morning was caused by clouds moving in from the Arabian Sea. Memon added that more rain clouds are headed toward Karachi, particularly affecting the southern areas, where heavy showers are anticipated.

The continued rainfall is part of the broader monsoon system impacting Karachi, raising concerns about potential flooding and disruptions in the city. As the day progresses, residents are advised to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions.
