Amazon Introduces Astro Robot: Your New Virtual Security Guard

Amazon Introduces Astro Robot Your New Virtual Security Guard Pakistan News Today

In its September 2021 hardware event, Amazon introduced Astro, a household robot designed to integrate Alexa, advanced hardware, software, computer vision, and AI. Initially marketed as a versatile household assistant with a unique persona and mobility, Amazon has now revealed a new version of Astro aimed at enhancing business security.

Astro for Business transforms the original Astro robot into an autonomous security guard, providing intelligent alerts, custom patrol routes, and scheduled patrols. This new version can patrol a business after hours, sending alerts if something seems amiss, effectively reducing the need for human security personnel and minimizing human error.

The robot is capable of mapping up to 5,000 square feet, making it ideal for most small businesses. While this range might not be sufficient for larger warehouses or factories, it marks a promising starting point. Future updates could potentially expand Astro’s coverage area.

Astro for Business includes several advanced features, such as a live view for real-time monitoring and two-way communication with people nearby. Its HD periscope camera, equipped with night vision and visual ID, can differentiate between employees and potential intruders, enhancing its security capabilities.

Currently, the subscription-based virtual security guard service is available only in the United States. As businesses increasingly look for cost-effective and efficient security solutions, Amazon’s Astro for Business could represent a significant step forward in automated security technology.
