Is Babar Azams Captaincy in Trouble Mohsin Naqvi Sets the Record Straight Pakistan News Today

Following Pakistan’s disappointing World Cup performance, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has vowed to hold those responsible for poor selection decisions accountable. Naqvi addressed concerns about the World Cup squad, revealing that the selection committee’s choices would be reviewed thoroughly. He assured that action would be taken against those who made errors, but emphasized that no final decision has been made regarding the removal of Babar Azam from the captaincy.

Naqvi also confirmed that the report from Gary Kirsten, which details reasons for the World Cup failure, has been received. The PCB is reaching out to former cricketers for their input on improving the national game. While Naqvi acknowledged mistakes by both the selection committee and Babar Azam, he cautioned against hasty decisions that could worsen the situation.

Looking ahead, Naqvi discussed the upcoming series against Bangladesh, which will be hosted in Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Multan. He also highlighted the need for improved domestic cricket standards and fitness tests for players. Naqvi stressed that no No Objection Certificates (NOCs) will be granted for league play before the Bangladesh series, and international players will need to participate in domestic cricket to secure national team selection.

Additionally, Naqvi addressed issues with the PCB and promised to tackle the challenges facing the board. He noted that improving the performance of the national team is his top priority and expressed his readiness to step down if he feels he cannot meet the expectations under pressure.
