The Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) has officially confirmed that there will be no tax on the prize money awarded to Arshad Nadeem, following his historic gold medal win in men’s javelin throw at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The FBR’s statement dispels recent rumors circulating on social media about potential taxes on Nadeem’s winnings.

Nadeem’s victory, which saw him set a new Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 meters, was met with widespread celebration in Pakistan. The 27-year-old athlete returned to a hero’s welcome at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, greeted by top officials, his family, and enthusiastic fans.

The Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced a reward of Rs100 million for Nadeem, while Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab promised Rs50 million, and Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori added Rs2 million. President Asif Ali Zardari has also directed that Nadeem be awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s second-highest civilian honor.

Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar revealed plans to issue a special postage stamp in honor of Nadeem’s achievement. The athlete expressed his gratitude, highlighting the hard work and dedication behind his success. This moment marks a proud chapter in Pakistan’s sporting history, ending a 40-year wait for an Olympic gold medal.
