Neuralink successfully implants brain chip in second patient, says Elon Musk

Neuralink has successfully implanted its device in a second patient, aiming to help paralyzed individuals control digital devices through thought alone. Elon Musk shared this update, revealing that the new implant has 400 active electrodes in the patient’s brain, out of a total of 1,024.

The first patient with the Neuralink implant has used it to play video games, browse the internet, and control a laptop. This progress demonstrates the device’s potential to significantly enhance the quality of life for individuals with spinal cord injuries.

During a recent podcast, Musk praised the performance of the second implant, expressing optimism about its success. He humorously noted that the battery and functionality seem to be performing exceptionally well.

Musk also revealed plans to implant the device in eight more patients within this year. Noland Arbaugh, the first patient, shared that the device has allowed him to interact with technology simply by thinking, reducing his dependence on caregivers.
