  • Islamic speaker Raja Zia Ul Haq and other celebrities voice strong objections.

The drama series ‘Barzakh,’ released on YouTube by Indian channel Zee 5, is facing significant backlash. The show, featuring a prominent Pakistani cast including Fawad Khan, Sanam Saeed, Salman Shahid, and Eman Suleiman, has been accused of glorifying LGBTQ themes. Directed by Asim Abbasi, the drama has drawn criticism from viewers, critics, and notable Pakistani celebrities such as Mishi Khan, Maria Wasti, Mona Hussain, and Raja Zia Ul Haq.

Islamic speaker Raja Zia Ul Haq recently condemned ‘Barzakh,’ highlighting the use of alleged Illuminati symbols in its promotional materials. In a video, he expressed his concerns, stating, “I generally don’t discuss Indian dramas, but ‘Barzakh’ involves Pakistani artists and was written and directed by a Pakistani, shot in Pakistan. The series openly promotes obscenity and seems to reflect a troubling eagerness among our artists to participate in such content.”

Raja Zia Ul Haq pointed out the use of a symbol resembling the Illuminati’s in the drama’s poster. He said, “The ‘A’ in ‘Barzakh’ resembles a Freemason’s sign. Creating and supporting such content is akin to committing a sin that will never fade. I urge everyone to avoid such content and raise their voices against it.”

The drama’s critics argue that ‘Barzakh,’ named after the period between death and the Day of Judgment, inappropriately mixes religious themes with what they consider vulgar plotlines. The controversy has sparked a heated debate about cultural values and the portrayal of LGBTQ themes in Pakistani media.
