Disappointing On-Screen Couples: Why These Drama Pairings Missed the Mark

Pakistani dramas, known for their rich storytelling and relatable characters, have recently showcased several on-screen couples whose chemistry left much to be desired. Despite the genre’s usual emphasis on compelling romances, some pairings in recent hits have struggled to connect with audiences.

Here is a list of on-screen couples from recent dramas that just did not make any sense:

Noor & Murad From Noor Jahan

In Noor Jahan, the chemistry between Kubra Khan and Ali Raza fell flat. Their portrayal of a newly-married couple lacked the spark needed to make their relationship believable, often appearing more like friends or distant relatives than lovers.

Zaid & Ayra From Mein

Similarly, the lead pair in Mein, Wahaj Ali and Azekah Daniel, struggled to convey the intense romance central to the drama’s plot. Their interactions often seemed forced, leading viewers to question the authenticity of their supposed love story.

Zain & Emaan From Radd

Radd also faced criticism, with Arsalan Naseer and Hiba Bukhari’s pairing failing to create the desired emotional impact. The show’s reliance on their relationship for dramatic tension felt unearned, as their on-screen connection appeared weak and unconvincing.

Munna & Zarnab From Gentleman

In Gentleman, Humayun Saeed and Yumna Zaidi, despite being seasoned actors, did not manage to generate the necessary chemistry. Their characters, Munna and Zarnab, seemed more like professional acquaintances than a romantic couple.

Dilsher & Sitara From Akhara

Akhara and Khumar also faced similar issues. In Akhara, Feroze Khan and Sonya Hussyn lacked the chemistry needed to drive the passionate narrative. Meanwhile, in Khumar, Neelam Muneer and Feroze Khan struggled to convincingly portray their characters’ romantic entanglements, making their pairing feel mismatched.

Faiz & Hareem From Khumar

In Teri Chhaon Mein, Danish Taimoor and Laiba Khurram’s age difference was noticeable, affecting the believability of their relationship. Similarly, in Rah e Junoon, Danish Taimoor and Komal Meer’s pairing suffered from a significant age gap that detracted from their on-screen chemistry.

Salaar & Wadima from Teri Chhaon Mein

Danish Taimoor came in his signature romantic hero look opposite the new comer Laiba Khurram. They both played much in love with each other, youngsters Salaar and Wadima who fled from their houses to get married as Wadima’s father is evil. Wadima looks so much younger than Salaar in the drama and the pairing does not look nice at all. Danish is trying to bring on his charm but the scenes end up looking forced most of the time.

Shabrez & Mehar From Rah e Junoon

Danish Taimoor and Komal Meer came together as two passionate lovers in Rah e Junoon. Shabrez was ready to eliminate anything and anyone to get to his Mehar. Mehar on the other hand kept getting hot and cold throughout the series. Once again the problem lies in how these two looked on the screens. Komal looked way younger than Danish and that alone was enough to kill the chemistry. This was yet again another pairing that just did not work and a different casting could have made the drama look better.

These dramas highlight how crucial the right on-screen chemistry is to the success of a drama, and how mismatched pairings can significantly impact a show’s reception.
