In Lahore, Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi has responded to increasing complaints regarding the overbilling of protected consumers by ordering strict legal action against responsible officers and staff. Expressing concern over the situation, the minister directed all Directors of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to promptly address the grievances of consumers using up to 200 units.

Mohsin Naqvi condemned the inclusion of protected consumers in the non-protected category as a criminal act, stressing that such practices would not be tolerated. He instructed the FIA to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure that those found responsible are held accountable without any bias.

The minister highlighted that overbilling has imposed an undue financial burden amounting to millions of rupees on consumers, particularly affecting those who are already facing challenges. He underscored the urgency of addressing complaints of overbilling and injustices faced by protected consumers, emphasizing the need for immediate corrective action.

Mohsin Naqvi’s directive aims to safeguard consumer rights and ensure fair treatment in utility billing practices, signaling a proactive approach to addressing public grievances and enforcing accountability within government agencies.
