Rashid Mahmood Langrial of the Pakistan Administrative Services has been appointed to lead the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). The federal cabinet approved his name, as reported by Geo News.

The grade-21 officer has been officially posted as Chairman of the FBR with immediate effect. The notification was issued by the Establishment Division from the Cabinet Secretariat.

He has authored a book titled “Story of the Fair Sex: Socioeconomic Conditions of Women Through Time.” Langrial’s extensive government service includes roles such as Chief Secretary Gilgit Baltistan, Commissioner Lahore Division, and Secretary Agriculture Punjab.

The former FBR chairman, Amjad Zubair Tiwana, resigned from his position on July 31. He cited a lack of cooperation from senior officers and issues with digitization and bifurcation between IRS and Customs groups.
