  • Services activated in areas like Manga Mandi, Multan Road, and Valencia under Digital Punjab vision.
  • Accessible for emergency contacts via Women Safety App, Punjab Police App, and WhatsApp.

The Punjab government has significantly expanded its ‘Free WiFi’ service across Lahore, activating an additional 100 points to now total 200 locations. This initiative, spearheaded by the Punjab Safe City Authority, aims to bolster connectivity and digital access in key areas of the city.

Areas benefiting from the enhanced service include Manga Mandi, Multan Road, Bund Road, Chung, Shahpur Kanjran, Sundar, Valencia, and Maraka, among others. These locations now offer free WiFi connectivity as part of the province’s Digital Punjab vision.

The expanded Free WiFi service is designed not only to provide internet access but also to support emergency communications. Users can utilize apps such as the Women Safety App, Punjab Police App, and WhatsApp for contacting police and family members during critical situations.

Each Free WiFi device covers a range of up to 300 feet from its installation point, enabling residents and visitors to access essential digital services on the go. While the service supports various applications, it restricts access to entertainment platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok, focusing instead on facilitating essential communication and emergency response capabilities.

In a related announcement, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari highlighted other recent initiatives, including the reimbursement of excess transport fares collected during Eid. The government returned Rs1.4 million to passengers and imposed fines totaling Rs2.7 million on transporters found charging above official rates. This move underscores the government’s commitment to consumer protection and transparency in public services across Punjab.
