In Lahore, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) held a significant open court session aimed at addressing widespread complaints from victims of fraudulent housing schemes. Director General (DG) NAB Lahore, Amjad Majeed Aulakh, led the session, which saw participation from approximately 250 affected individuals. The session focused on providing relief and updates on various housing fraud cases.
DG Aulakh announced plans to amend the current housing policy to regulate the open file system, which has been prone to exploitation. He emphasized that NAB will only handle genuine complaints moving forward and urged victims to provide detailed documentary evidence, such as allotment letters and payment receipts.
For those affected by the Pak-Arab Housing Society fraud, NAB is preparing to distribute cheques worth billions of rupees and has completed the re-verification process for 2,400 victims. Legal actions are also underway, including efforts to cancel the bail of the accused and sell seized properties to compensate victims. Additionally, NAB has engaged with the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to address delays in development work for affected residents.
In response to complaints from Prime Zone victims, NAB has apprehended key suspect Mufti Rizwan and is working on canceling bails for other accused individuals. Investigations are ongoing, and a red warrant will soon be issued for the absconder, Imran, with plans to involve Interpol for his return.
DG Aulakh also addressed issues with Khayaban-i-Ameen Housing Society, directing that all promised plots, flats, and houses be provided to victims. Strict actions will be taken if the administration fails to meet court-imposed deadlines. For New Lahore City, NAB is investigating claims of additional development charges and ensuring that fully paid customers receive their plots promptly.
Regarding Park View Housing Society and other cases, NAB will handle fraud-related complaints and excessive charges with relevant authorities. The session concluded with affected individuals expressing satisfaction with the actions taken and appreciating the NAB Chairman’s commitment to resolving housing fraud issues.
