Filmmaker Subhash Ghai is set to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his landmark film ‘Taal’ on August 13. The film, featuring a memorable soundtrack by AR Rahman, includes the popular title track sung by Alka Yagnik.

In a recent interview, Yagnik revealed she almost declined the opportunity to record the song due to conflicting commitments in Mumbai. She initially resisted traveling to Chennai but was convinced by both Subhash Ghai and her mother.

Yagnik shared her experience waiting for Rahman, who arrived at the studio after 2 am, as she and Ghai waited outside. Despite the inconvenience of late-night hours, she grew to appreciate Rahman’s preference for working at night, noting it provided a peaceful and distraction-free environment.

Directed by Subhash Ghai, ‘Taal’ starred Aishwarya Rai, Akshaye Khanna, and Anil Kapoor, and achieved significant commercial success both in India and abroad. The film remains a celebrated part of Hindi cinema history.
