  • Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur calls for neutrality from state institutions, claiming the current government is seen as being installed by these institutions.
  • Gandapur’s appeal reflects Imran Khan’s recent message through his sister, urging the military to stay neutral.
  • The PTI founder is reported to have criticized the ruling parties and emphasized the need for law and democracy to address the country’s issues.

On Saturday, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur publicly called for state institutions to maintain neutrality. He expressed concern that the current government is perceived as being installed by these institutions, which he believes undermines public trust. Gandapur’s appeal comes amid ongoing political tension and mirrors a recent message from Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), conveyed through his sister, Aleema Khan.

Aleema Khan revealed that Imran Khan had urged the military to stay neutral for the sake of the country. She quoted him as saying that the ruling parties, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), are morally bankrupt and that the government is intentionally trying to create discord between PTI and the armed forces. Imran Khan reportedly believes that the military is crucial to Pakistan’s stability and has sought legal measures to avoid being handed over to the army.

Aleema Khan also mentioned that despite multiple offers for Imran to leave the country, he has chosen to remain in Pakistan to ensure that the military and the people are not divided. She highlighted his concerns about the country’s decline in rule of law and democracy, which he argues are leading to economic troubles and emigration.

In response, Adviser to Chief Minister on Information Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif criticized the PML-N government for what he described as misleading statements by Federal Minister for Information & Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar. Saif accused the federal government of trying to sow discord between security institutions and the public, further complicating the political landscape.
