Raoof Hasan, the Information Secretary for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been arrested in a new terrorism case. This development follows his recent judicial remand by a district and sessions court in Islamabad, where he, along with other suspects, was held for 14 days in connection with an anti-state propaganda case. On Tuesday, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) approved Hasan’s two-day physical remand to allow for further interrogation.
The counter-terrorism department (CTD) of the police made the arrest earlier in the day, according to the prosecutor. The court’s decision came after a request for a five-day remand to investigate Hasan’s alleged involvement in a terror network. The prosecutor claimed that Ahmad Waqas Janjua, PTI’s media coordinator and a co-accused, revealed that Hasan had given him Rs300,000 to facilitate terror activities.
