Must read

Summary:

  • Schools in Sindh will reopen from Thursday after an extended summer break.
  • The new academic year will now start in August instead of April.
  • Sindh Education Minister announces new teaching reforms, including a teaching license policy.

Schools across Sindh are set to resume classes on Thursday, marking the end of an extended summer break. This pause, originally intended to end on July 31, was extended by the provincial government to August 14. Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah has urged both students and teachers to focus on educational excellence as schools reopen. He emphasized the importance of commitment from educators and highlighted recent reforms aimed at improving the education system.

The Sindh government has recently introduced a teaching license policy designed to elevate teaching standards by ensuring that only qualified professionals are hired. This policy is part of broader reforms that the minister described as “revolutionary” for the province’s educational landscape.

In addition to these changes, the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department has adjusted the start date for the new academic year. Instead of beginning in April as previously planned, the new academic year 2024-25 will commence on August 1, 2024. This decision reflects a significant shift in scheduling for primary and secondary schools across the province, which were initially set to begin the new year on April 15, 2024.
