The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Punjab has announced that monsoon rains are expected to impact most districts in the province, with the possibility of these rains continuing until July 7. A spokesperson for PDMA indicated that a medium to high-level warning has been issued for the Chenab River at Marala due to anticipated heavy rainfall, though river flows across Punjab remain normal.

In response to the forecast, PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia has urged all relevant institutions to implement precautionary measures. The spokesperson also highlighted that Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Gujrat, and Mandi Bahauddin are likely to experience significant rainfall. Additionally, areas such as Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Murree, and the Galiyat are under alert for potential thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Karachi is enjoying a break from the summer heat with cloudy skies and a cooling sea breeze. The Met Department reports that while the temperature is expected to reach 37 degrees Celsius today with high humidity at 70%, monsoon rains are anticipated to start from July 8. This upcoming rainfall is expected to bring a welcome drop in temperature and improve the overall weather conditions in the city.

As the monsoon season progresses, the PDMA emphasizes the need for preparedness to ensure safety and reduce potential damage, while Karachi residents look forward to relief from the heat with the arrival of anticipated rains.
