To access these animated emojis, users need to download the Android update 2.24.15.15 from the Google Play Store. However, this feature is available only to a select group of users who have updated their app.
The new emojis include animations for select characters, such as the two laughing emojis and the red heart emoji. When sent in messages, these animated emojis will appear with their special effects, adding a new layer of expressiveness to conversations.
While not all emojis will feature animations at this stage, WhatsApp plans to expand the selection in future updates. Users can check which emojis have animation by sending them in a chat. Non-animated emojis will continue to appear in their standard form.
