LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will inaugurate the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ program on August 14. During a meeting on Sunday, she approved three models for the initiative and directed that living rooms be included in the model house designs. Additionally, she instructed that service charges should not be collected from plot owners and that toll-free numbers should be introduced for public convenience.
The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) will develop a special portal for the program, allowing applicants to submit their forms online. Secretary Housing Captain (retd) Asadullah Khan provided a briefing on the initiative, noting that application forms will be available at deputy and assistant commissioners’ offices. Plot owners with up to 5 marlas will be eligible for interest-free loans to build their homes, with repayment options in easy installments.
Under the program, allottees from the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) will receive 3- and 5-marla houses in private schemes, with a five-year installment plan for house payments. The Punjab government will also provide subsidies to reduce housing costs in these schemes. Approximately 70,000 plot owners in various cities and villages will benefit from these loans, marking a significant step towards affordable housing in Punjab.
