To mark the beginning of this program, Zhao presented a cheque for Rs1 million.

These scholarships are designed to assist both merit-based students and those facing financial difficulties, aiming to reduce the financial burdens that often hinder academic progress. The Vice-Chancellor expressed profound gratitude for the donation, highlighting the positive impact it will have on the educational opportunities available to students.

This new scholarship program is part of a broader effort by China to support education in Pakistan. The Chinese Embassy in Islamabad has also been active in providing similar support through the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship Program, which benefits various universities across the country. Notably, these scholarships are awarded based on merit and financial need, with 50% specifically allocated to female students to address the gender gap in higher education.
