Summary:

  • A Karachi court grants judicial remand for Natasha, who is accused of causing a deadly accident.
  • The incident, which resulted in two fatalities and several injuries, involved Natasha’s vehicle colliding with multiple cars.
  • The investigation includes allegations of negligence and a review of Natasha’s mental health.

In Karachi, a court has approved the judicial remand of Natasha, a woman accused of causing a fatal accident on Karsaz Road. The court’s decision on Wednesday followed an earlier order to present Natasha and her medical report. She was initially given a one-day physical remand, but a seven-day remand was requested by the investigation officer, citing Section 322, which is a non-bailable offence.

The accident occurred on Monday when Natasha allegedly crashed her car into several vehicles, leading to the deaths of 26-year-old Aamna Arif and her father, 60-year-old Imran Arif. The collision also injured five other people. Following the crash, Natasha was taken into custody by police and Rangers, and her vehicle was impounded. She was subsequently taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for a medical check-up due to an injury to her head.

The case was filed by Imtiaz Arif, the brother of the deceased, who claimed that the accident resulted from Natasha’s “negligence, freewheeling, and speeding.” Police have charged Natasha with culpable homicide and added charges of negligence and rash driving to the FIR.

At JPMC, Dr. Chooni Lal from the Psychiatry Department reported that Natasha’s mental state was stable and that she did not attempt self-harm. Her family had claimed she was mentally ill, but no medical records were provided to support this.

CCTV footage obtained by Geo News shows the tragic sequence of events, with Natasha’s speeding vehicle striking a motorcycle carrying the father and daughter, followed by her fleeing the scene. The investigation is being expedited with the aid of this footage.
